I started my career in sales because I thought it was what I was supposed to do and I was excited about it. My father was in sales management and his father–it was part of our DNA, and they were good at it. I wanted to be just like my dad who, as head of sales, was quite simply an advisor, a problem solver, and very often, a friend.
Sales management is in my DNA.
Recently, I participated in a video series exposing the human side of being a sales leader. I suppose that the combination of 18 years at Televerde in sales plus a game-changing hiking accident last year makes my story unique.
My team teases me because my first question once the fog lifted from the accident was, “Are my customers okay?” It’s funny but honestly, for me, the best part about what I get to do every day is not just about making money, it’s more about helping my customers. Call me crazy but what really feeds my passion and my purpose are the lifelong relationships I’ve built with customers who, much like my dad, are not only colleagues and clients, but very often my friends.
During my injury downtime and recovery, I had a lot of time to think about my life, mortality, purpose, and passion. Televerde has 8 core values, but my favorite is ‘do the right thing’. Our definition is, “By continuously reflecting on personal values and behaving in a way that exudes honesty and ethical standards, we ensure that Televerde is a great place for employees, clients
I work for a great company that not only provides outstanding sales & marketing services to our clients but is dedicated to human kindness and compassion that can change lives. I love the famous quote by Woodrow Wilson…
“You are here not merely to make a living. You are here to enable the world to live more amply with greater vision and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world. You impoverish yourself if you forget this errand.”
