Three New Appointments Mark Eight Women on Leadership Team, Highlighting Company’s Commitment Diversity and Inclusion

(January 22, 2019 – Phoenix, AZ) – Televerde, the global sales and marketing solutions provider, today announced that the company has selected Jill Barnard as Chief Financial Officer, Aamna Jalal as General Counsel and Julie Salomone as Head of Human Resources.

Ms. Barnard joins Televerde from local-Phoenix fitness chain, Mountainside Fitness, where she served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Previously, she served as the CFO at Equipment Brokers Unlimited. Ms. Barnard has a strong operational mindset and brings successful business growth experience to Televerde. She will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations while building out and refining financial and operational frameworks to support Televerde’s growth.

Ms. Jalal comes to Televerde from Thinkwell Group, a global design and production agency, where she was Vice President of Legal Affairs. Previously, she served as Vice President of Contracts Management at Union Bank of California. In this new role for Televerde, Ms. Jalal will be responsible for leading strategic and tactical legal initiatives, and advocating for the company’s commitment to integrity, ethics, compliance and risk management practices.

Ms. Salomone joins Televerde from local-Phoenix company Tuft & Needle where she served as the Head of People Operations. Prior to Tuft & Needle, Ms. Salomone held HR leadership positions at Forever Resorts, Kona Grill, USC Auxiliary Services and Target. She is an experienced “people” leader having led all HR functions, including talent acquisition strategies, on-boarding, performance management, internal communication, compensation, benefits and HR technology alignment.

With the addition of Ms. Barnard, Ms. Jalal and Ms. Salomone, eight of Televerde’s 11 Leadership Team positions are now held by women. This unique make-up underscores Televerde’s passionate commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace at all levels of the organization. The company has a 599-person workforce, 87% of which is female. For more than 20 years, Televerde has created best-in-class sales and marketing services through a business model that hires, trains and supports incarcerated women. Televerde’s culture of inclusivity is built on dignity, respect, compassion and providing second chances.

“We believe if you are qualified for a position, align with our company’s unique culture and core values, and are eager to grow and excel, you can make a difference on our team. That’s true both in the boardroom and in a correctional facility,” said Morag Lucey, Televerde’s recently announced CEO. “Jill, Aamna and Julie are tops in their respective fields and bring what we need to expand our business and extend our business model to other geographies and disempowered communities around the world. They are going to make our business stronger, which is what we ask of all employees–inmates or executives.”

Over the past quarter, Televerde has hired or promoted five women to the company’s Leadership Team, including:

They join the following Leadership Team members:

  • Chad Angle, Head of Call Center Operations;
  • Vince Barsolo, Chief Operating Officer;
  • Taylor Napierski, Head of Client Success;
  • Michele Putman, Head of Services Delivery;
  • Kellie Walenciak, Head of Corporate Communications; and
  • Cathy Wright, Head of Solutions Management.

Televerde’s commitment to working with disempowered populations, notably incarcerated women in the United States, has produced remarkable results for clients and communities over the past 25 years. Approximately 3,000 women have worked for Televerde while they were incarcerated, and the company currently employs 425 women at five contact centers in Arizona Department of Corrections and Indiana Department of Correction. Almost 30 women who have been released from prison have gone on to earn college degrees while working for Televerde at its corporate headquarters. Most importantly, the recidivism rate for women who have worked for Televerde is 6.1 percent, dramatically lower than national averages, which range from 50 to 70 percent.
