Glasgow: A look at the new home of our new European Headquarters

Hi All,

I just returned from Scotland working with our first recruits in our new European headquarters and wanted to share an update on the progress we’ve made in the past two months.

It was in October 2015 at the SiriusDecisions European Summit when we announced we’d add another international location in order to support clients as they grow across the globe. This location would serve as our European headquarters, allow us to help U.S. clients expand or grow throughout European, assist European companies breaking into the Americas, and complement our Cordoba, Argentina contact center with additional language support. In March of this year, we announced we had chosen the famed European port city of Glasgow, Scotland to set up shop. And since then we have been working diligently to bring this location to life, having a great time along the way.

We recently issued a press release with some of the milestones our Glasgow location has reached, including signing the lease on our new office space and moving in, hiring and training our first recruits, and initiating our first demand gen and sales support campaigns for our clients. It’s an exciting time for all of us at Televerde, but especially the team here in Scotland.

It turns out our clients are equally excited about our new European location, as many of them are booking travel and planning to visit us in the UK and see how we’re running their campaigns. Since we’ve had a bit of time to explore the city and what it has to offer, I thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite things about Glasgow. If you’re thinking of visiting, please do! And we hope you find the city as charming, educated, metropolitan and enjoyable as we do. Glasgow City dates back to the sixth century when it was founded by the Christian missionary, Saint Mungo.

  1. Glasgow is the fourth largest city in the UK with a greater metro population of 1.2 million. The city proper has a population of about 600,000.
  2. Glasgow says its people make the city and we couldn’t agree more. Check out com, the official guide to the city
  3. Speaking of people, we’ve found them to be well-educated, multi-lingual and great candidates for the 170 jobs Televerde will eventually host in our European headquarters office. It must be because the city is home to five institutions of higher learning and three super colleges, which educate 130,000 students from 135 countries.
  4. The city has 90 gardens and parks, including Victoria Park, where you can see remnants of an ancient swamp forest. The site, called Fossil Grove, protects 11 fossilized tree stumps estimated to be about 330 million years old
  5. Glasgow’s legendary music scene stretches across the whole spectrum from contemporary and classical to Celtic and Country. The city hosts an average of 130 music events each week and was named “Europe’s Secret Capital of Music” by TIME Magazine;
  6. A visit to Glasgow wouldn’t be complete without taking time for a few of the 20 world-class museums and art galleries around the city that house Europe’s largest civic arts collection valued at £1.8 billion;
  7. The Tall Ship: SV GLenlee, built in 1896 and the only remaining Clyde-built sailing vessel afloat in the UK, is a reminder of Glasgow’s heritage as a shipbuilding haven;
  8. If shopping is your idea of heaven, Glasgow won’t let you down. Visit Style Mile, in the center of the city, which is a concentration of malls, independent boutiques, designer stores and specialty shops.
  9. The £1.13 billion Glasgow City Region City Deal will further transform the city and region. City Deal projects include regeneration and infrastructure work in addition to funding for innovation, business growth and supporting the local labor market with particular emphasis on life sciences and innovation.

I’m also sharing some pictures of our new host city and our new team that is rapidly forming.  We look forward to expanding your campaigns into Europe!  Got a good referral for someone in need of supercharging their demand generation campaigns? Look forward to reading your comments.
