Empowering Financial Freedom: Celebrating National Financial Awareness Day
This National Financial Awareness Day, Televerde recognizes the important role of financial literacy in empowering women impacted by incarceration to achieve independence and support their families. Understanding personal finance is essential, particularly for those reentering society and striving to build stable futures.
In 2020, Televerde launched the Televerde Foundation, recognizing the need for comprehensive support beyond business operations. This non-profit organization extends our commitment to the personal and professional development of the women who work with Televerde while incarcerated. The foundation’s innovative programs are designed to address the unique challenges and priorities faced by women reentering the workforce, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge to manage their lives, including their finances, effectively.
Boosting Financial Smarts with Televerde Foundation
Despite the importance of financial literacy, many people today lack the necessary skills to make informed financial decisions. In fact, the World Economic Forum recently reported that in the U.S., financial literacy is hovering at around 50 percent! This challenge is heightened for individuals with limited income, where financial literacy is essential. The Televerde Foundation’s financial literacy program, in partnership with Stukent, is a key initiative that equips participants with vital insights into managing their financial health.
Participants learn crucial aspects of financial literacy, including budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management. These skills are pivotal as many Americans increasingly face challenges like high debt levels, insufficient emergency savings, and inadequate retirement planning. By enhancing financial literacy, we help women and their families break the cycle of financial insecurity, a pressing issue that underscores the need for such initiatives, and lay the groundwork for a more stable financial future.

The Impact of Financial Literacy
Financial literacy takes on an even greater significance for those reentering society after incarceration. Many face the daunting task of starting from scratch, often with their first real exposure to managing financial responsibilities. By promoting financial literacy, we empower individuals to reduce financial stress, achieve long-term goals, and contribute positively to community stability.
On this National Financial Awareness Day, let’s celebrate the transformative power of financial literacy and the continued success of the Televerde Foundation in making a meaningful impact on the lives of many.
